For those of you unfamilar with Fireflies in the Forest Folkart, I began a long while ago...  1992 to be exact.  My  techniques, style, product & designs have changed alot over the years, but what has remained ever constant is producing folk-art that is truly unique, original, and OOAK (one-of-a-kind).

I have been an artist in the Salt Lake City, Utah community for over  15 years. I have been an Art History teacher  for groups of highschool kids, an Arts&Crafts teacher in the afterschool community school programs for kids ages 5-12. I am a mural artist and I have many walls, dividers and  ceilings painted on in Churches, business & doctors offices and  schools.  I have also worked with great companies like H.A.L.O.S, Stamps on Fire, Stamp Emporium, Scrapbook Buzz,Korporate Kards, The Angel Company, Creative Images, Creative Chaos and many other companies and organizations.
I often use a distressing technique with several layers of acrylic paints and then sanding for a truly vintage and worn out look and rich leathery patina. All dolls are made to last and wear throughout the years to come.

The love of antiques has certainly been a huge influence here at Fireflies in the Forest over the past 15 years!   I love what I do, and here is a little insight into my magical world.

Our Goals
  • To provide great pieces of folkart for you to display or give as gifts.
  • To always use high quality fabrics, wools, excelsior, paints and other fine products.
  • To provide the best customer service possible.

All of my dolls and folkart are created using cotton muslin, beautiful fabrics, rich pigmented acrylic paints, fiber fill, natural cotton fill, excelsior wood shavings and natural sands. I make everything in my studio, including getting out the drill and saw for wood projects! My family thinks I'm crazy with those eye protector goggles on and drilling away!  But I enjoy everything I do and I am thrilled when I make a piece of folkart that someone can love and cherish and even pass down to generations or give as gifts.
